To be fair, I knew I wasn't going to love this book but I still pre-ordered it. I'd read the other 2 and knew that this H had been estranged from his wife for 8 years. I know that the premise was one GIGANTIC misunderstanding but I think the author expected us to make too much of a leap. Many books would not have been written if the protagonists had just had one good conversation, this one made me wonder how on earth they had managed to avoid the conversation. There were humorous moments but I actually cried (not sure I was supposed to) for all the harm done to the h. She truly was left to rot and is treated appallingly by others and all because of the H's pride.+++Spoilers+++
The resolution came extremely late in the book and I was left thinking that if the H could hold a grudge over what he thought he saw for 8 years, then it didn't bode well for true misunderstandings/fights that would occur during the rest of their marriage.
Not a wonderful book.

Loving Lord Ash Duchess of Love Sally MacKenzie 9781420123234 Books Reviews
LOVING LORD ASH has vibrant, spirited characters who leap off the page to come to life. The book is filled with MacKenzie's trademark humor and wit.
After their wedding eight years before, Lord Ash takes Jess to his country home and leaves her there, refusing to see her. Why? He witnessed her in a truly damning situation the day he proposed. Yet he loves her deeply, and the pain of that is what keeps him away. Finally, he needs an heir and returns to the country home to advise her of the divorce proceedings. And the fireworks begin.
Jess is a free-spirited artist who has surrounded herself with a most unusual set of servants. When Ash walks in on yet another apparently compromising scene, he nearly stomps right back out again. But his reappearance has reminded Jess of just how much she loves him. So she persuades him to give their marriage another try.
The brilliance of this book lies in MacKenzie's profound understanding of how important trust is to an intimate relationship. Once trust has been destroyed, rebuilding it is a slow, difficult process. Jess and Ash have to resolve eight long years of distrust. Watching them do it is heartwarming and gut-wrenching. It's a wonderful journey to take with them.
And there's a fabulous big, black dog named Fluff, who wiggles his way into everyone's heart.
I highly recommend this book! It's a fabulous read.
Excellent book. Kit finally fixes his marriage! I loved how the characters at the mansion were out of the normal type of house servant. Makes one imagine all kinds of fun situations. As with all of Sally MacKenzie's books, it was delightful and wonderful to immerse myself in the story and just enjoy the ride to the always satisfying end. )
Another enjoyable book on the same family of brothers, their parents, and loves including pets and humor among family. Enjoy Ms. MacKenzie's books and plan on reading each one...
With misunderstanding after misunderstanding...plus not wanting to discuss the problems with each other or anyone else it is a wonder these 2 ever got back together. Thought the all male gay mansion Jess had been left at a nice touch.
I just read all four of this book series, starting with the Duchess of Love's story. The next 3 books about her grown sons were just as delightful as the first book. Love this author's work!
This is about the most preposterous book I have ever read. We are supposed to believe that the hero and heroine married at 22 and 20, have been married for 8 years and have NEVER had sex with each other or anyone else. And many of the other male characters are gay - I'm no so sure they would have been quite to open in the 19th century as they might be today. This is all so ridiculous I stopped reading in the middle. The challenge for many romance writers who write historical fiction is to make the characters interesting and modern enough without taking them so far out of their time that the story just doesn't work. The heroine "Jessica", called "Jess" (a very 21st century name) could have been placed in 2017 New York and her dialogue would have worked just fine. Don't waste your money.
If I could, I would give this book a minus star! I am surprised I finished the first five chapters. The story is far fetched, a female artist at this time painting male nudes and swearing. Openly gay men employed together in a house, at a time in history when there were laws against homosexual sex, punishable by hanging. Ridiculous, a future Duke still a virgin at age 30. Married for eight years without seeing each other, though still in love. Kit and Jess were both extremely juvenile. So silly.
